Updates? I've got your updates!
Damn, I can't believe it's the end of the year already! This year seems to have passed so quickly - so much has changed since this time last year. Knitting-wise, I've come a long way. Of course, working at the shop definitely has had a hand in that. :)
On the list of things to get done before the New Year is officially here - the Jaywalker socks! The second sock is well on its way, the heel has been turned (with much help from Shanti's cat, Stormy), and eventually (ummmm, read tomorrow) I'll get off my ass and finish knitting the foot.
Okay, no comments on how phallic the sock looks in that picture! LOL!
I must have ripped out that heel about 2 or 3 times - the last time I was at Shanti's getting some "help" from Stormy... or at least what passes as her idea of help. But really, who can resist this face??
Speaking of Shanti, she left me a lovely pressie for watching Stormy - Shanti knows me well.
A hank of the Possum Lace from Cherry Tree Hill and a bubble bar from Lush... YUM on both counts! Thank you sooo much Shanti!
Another great pressie was from my dad this Christmas: a gift certificate to the shop! Woot!! Kristine and Kel were able to keep it very quiet that Daddy came in to buy it when I was off... Of course, all his questioning of when my days off were suddenly make so much sense... Really, I'm not dense! Hee! I've decided to put my giftie towards this:
What? Don't recognize what that packaging might be? Well, maybe this will help:
Yup, Mermaid by Hanne Falkenberg. Gawd, I love this kit - I've been lusting after it in the shop since the kits came in! Will I cast on immediately? Ummmm... no. Not until the New Year, at least. I mean, I do have a few other things on the table to think about... Like Ibenholt. I *heart* Ibenholt. Want to cast on for Ibenholt. Must finish other things first. Like the Jaywalker socks. :) (Liz, sorry I didn't email you back immediately - I suck. I'll check to see if we've still got the pattern at the shop...) It is nice though to have had so much interest in an Ibenholt knitalong. Must start thinking seriously about that in a few days, you know, in the New Year.
With the back to back holidays and people taking time off work, Maeve and I have had a few visitors at the shop... Which makes us happy. Last week Phyl and Wendy stopped in for a visit - Phyl happened to bring a recent blog prize she had gotten from The King of All Remote Controls, a pair of orange scissors. *sigh* Phyl and her orange.
Did I forget to mention that the scissors have no actual blades? Hee! She then decided to whip up a hat for her stepfather (right, Phyl?) in time for Christmas. Apparently, when designing on the fly, it's acceptable, and more important - necessary, to try on said hat:
Wendy's reaction to the hat:
She looks a tad frightened, doesn't she? Since Phyl had picked the cammo colorway, we suggested making an orange pompom - she didn't take our advice. :( Phyl told us that the hat was a hit.
For those who are curious, my sister loved her shawl! She was amazed that I knit it. She thanked me at least 5 times. That did my heart good. She'll definitely get more handknits in the future.
Now, off to bed. Must realize that just because I'm up until all hours, that doesn't stop the alarm from going off in the morning. If I don't blog again before January, have a great New Year! Get out there and have some fun on Saturday and get some rest on Sunday! (I definitely plan on having some fun!)

I'm delurking myself. I just wanted to let you know that I had a GREAT time on NYE. We totally have to do something again.
